Looking like an intellectual radical in 1896. Like Ol´ Blue Eyes put it, "When I was thirty-five, it was a very good year..."
Hey, this is Steiner the bohemian anarchist! In 1897 he met his friends in the restaurant Zur Alten Künstnerklause i Berlin, where he frequently ended up sitting until the early hours of the morning. Max Halbe recalls "Steiner´s external image, his coal black hair, his flashing black eyes, the face with the hollow cheeks, the skinny tight-buttoned figure, sort of black in black all together in the strange combination og magician and daemon."
(Max Halbe: Jahrhundertwende, Danzig 1942, pg. 183.)
